Learn With Me

LEARN WITH ME

I’ve been photographing products for small (and sometimes large) businesses for 4 years now, and one thing is clear, especially with small start-ups, good product photography can make or break a new business. If you launch a brand with unprofessional images, your audience is going to assume your product is of lower quality. That often isn’t the case, but what do you do when you’re first starting out and don’t have a budget for professional photography on an ongoing basis?

INTRODUCING: LEARN WITH ME SESSIONS!

Learn with Me are 1 on 1 learning sessions from 90 minutes to 3 hours. Each session includes a guidebook designed to suit your specific needs as a business owner who wants to take their own product images. I’ll teach you how to shoot on your iPhone to get pro results, how to style your products, and dozens of tricks I’ve learned in my career as a professional product photographer that will help you achieve results like mine!

Let’s talk more in detail…

How much can I save by doing my own product photography?

Most businesses who work with me, spend about $3000 to get e-commerce images and banner images created for their website. Additionally, they spend $1425 per month for a 20 image pack for social media. That adds up quickly for a small business!

The trade-off, of course, is that you need to learn a whole new art form (product photography, styling, and lighting) and spend the time honing your skills.

Initially, most clients spend $900-$1500 on their Learn with Me session, and they will also spend about $200 on photography gear. If you factor in that a single image costs about $85, you can make your money back fairly quickly!

Why one on one learning? Wouldn’t it be cheaper to buy an online class?

With an online class, you’re only learning what the teacher thinks a wide audience would need to know. With one on one learning, however, I’m able to talk with you ahead of time and tailor your learning time so that it’s 100% applicable to your space, your situation, and your product.

With all of my learn with me clients, I spend time ahead of their session figuring out their current skill level so we can build on that. We also will spend a lot of time narrowing in on a style for your brand. Together we’ll create a mood board, select backdrops, and props, and truly set you up for success.

Where will we shoot?

We’ll be shooting in your space, wherever you plan to take product photos in the near future. I’ll help you find the areas of your home or workspace with the best lighting, talk you through how to diffuse the light, and more. That’s one thing you can only get from a one-on-one learning session.

What kinds of things can I learn?

Every student I work with will leave their session with the tools they need to take professional quality product photos on their iPhone or DSLR. Some things you can learn, depending on your specific needs include:

  • Lighting (natural or artificial)

  • Styling and image design/composition

  • Gear (tripods/diffusion methods etc)

  • Editing on iPhone or Lightroom

  • How to make your own backdrops and source props

  • How to tell a story with your images

  • Styling tricks and tips

Can I really do this myself?

I recommend taking on product photography if you have the time to practice, are aesthetically inclined, and have an interest in it. It’s also to remember, that while you can save a lot doing this yourself, there’s a trade-off. You must be willing to source your own props, practice your styling, and put work into your craft.

If you can do these things, and you want to create images that will increase the success of your business, this is a great option for you!

Shoot me an email so we can chat more about your needs and design a session that will set you up for success!
